A self-portrait by Marie-Gabrielle Capet
(1761-1818). Marie-Gabrielle Capet was a pupil of Adélaïde Labille-Guiard and became well known for her vivid portrait work and excellent use of color. Capet was one of several women painters who exhibited at the Salon. This particular self-portrait was done circa 1783, when the artist was about 22 years old.
